SAND CITY, Monterey County — October 26, 2026. People planning home additions, new businesses or property development in Sand City can use the municipality’s online planning resources instead of relying on an outdated PDF application. The Planning Department lists a New Planning Permit Application Portal, Existing Permit Search Portal, zoning code and map, planning fee schedule and current application materials.
These tools are particularly relevant because the city is developing its 2050 General Plan and reviewing its housing goals while coastal projects require additional oversight. The department provides links for accessory and junior accessory dwelling units, Coastal Development Permits, conditional uses, special events and home occupations.
Submitting an online application does not itself authorize construction: applicants must follow zoning, building, utility, fire and coastal requirements, which depend on the parcel and project type. A project may require multiple agency reviews. Landowners should check the current official forms and fees before retaining contractors, and should keep confirmation of any accepted application.
Primary municipal source: City of Sand City project resources. Planning projections are not completed-project claims.
